Ingredients:
Base:
2 chicken breasts
2 carrots
2 celery stalks
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
4 cups chicken broth
2 T. butter
1/4 cup milk
Directions:
2 chicken breasts
2 carrots
2 celery stalks
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
4 cups chicken broth
2 T. butter
1/4 cup milk
Directions:
- Peel and slice carrots, slice celery and chop onion. Soften veggies in saucepan with butter. (I added a little Mrs Dash salt-free seasoning.) T
- Add chicken broth and raw chicken. ( I cooked this probably about 2 hours and then shredded my chicken and added my milk.)
- Add salt and pepper at the end. ( I salted it before hand and it was too much so I diluted with additional milk.)
Dumplings:
1 cup flour
2 T. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar
1 T. butter or margarine
1/2 cup milk
Directions:
- Mix dry ingredients; cut in butter until it resembles coarse crumbles.
- Add milk, mix and then drop by spoonfuls into boiling soup.
- Top with lid and let cook 15 minutes without disturbing.
Note: I turned the heat down to simmer after about 5 minutes and let it sit for a total of 20 minutes. The dumplings were so tender! Best ones I've ever done. ENJOY!
